Remarkables House
"This house is set on a stunning terrace site in an outstanding natural landscape halfway up the foothills of the Remarkables. A strong exterior concept has been used with the house broken visually by a series of schist clad fins, radiating around the pool and anchoring the residence to the ground. The roof is composed of a series of tilted plates that reference the jagged skyline of the Remarkables beyond. The forms nestle into the landscape like a rock outcrop. An artificial ‘tarn’ has been formed in front of the house where hardwood platforms hover playfully and provide an interesting private place to dine and entertain. This project’s strength is its playful, appropriate exterior form and the way its colour scheme and landscaping had blurred its edges into the surrounding landscape"
